Bath and North East Somerset Council’s Parks Team is currently recruiting for a Team Leader, Grounds Maintenance, to help lead the team which manages Royal Victoria Park and Botanical Gardens.
Royal Victoria Park is a Grade I listed public space which attracts around 5 million visitors/year and is the Jewel in the Crown of Bath’s status as World Heritage City.
Working with the Parks Manager and staff this role will lead on developing a fresh new approach for the Botanical Gardens in Royal Victoria Park and in the wider park to develop a landscape which reflects both the heritage of the Gardens and which helps promote biodiversity, health and wellbeing and sustainability.
The Team Leader will work with the Parks Manager and operational staff to develop and manage a work programme for improving and managing the Botanic Gardens and the wider park, leading and managing horticultural and maintenance operations in the Park and Botanical Gardens to a high standard.
The role will also involve working with colleagues to attract and engage new audiences to the Bath Botanical Gardens through volunteering, events and new interpretation and providing support to members of the public, alongside overseeing day-to-day management operations including litter and recycling collections and cleansing and weed control.
We are looking for someone with experience of managing teams responsible for maintaining parks and gardens with a can-do attitude, a keen interest in horticulture and a passion for the role that parks play in creating happy, healthy and sustainable communities.
Hours: 37 per week
