About the Role
The post holder will be accountable to the Head of Sustainability for the operational delivery of Queen Mary’s environmental management system (ISO 14001:2015 EMS) and the delivery of its environmental objectives. The post holder will be responsible for proactively coordinating Queen Mary’s environmental management system, ensure that it continue to be compliant with relevant regulation, continue to improve its environmental performance, reduce its carbon footprint and respond to the challenges of climate change and climate emergency. To develop a suitable process for the effective environmental sustainability procedures. This includes delivering a programme of environmental sustainability initiatives, projects and works, coordinating site audits, data analysis and acting as the environmental sustainability champion, by promoting good environmental practices across Queen Mary.
You should have experience of delivering and taking the lead on environmental sustainability projects. Enthusiastic about sustainability, with analytical skills, ability to think creatively and work with others to deliver good environmental outcomes. You should also have extensive experience of coordinating environmental management systems certification and environmental compliance experience.
The post holder should be able to communicate effectively, and be comfortable about meeting and interacting with colleagues and students from across the University. You should also have experience of coordinating appropriate environmental awareness campaigns.
You should be self-initiative with extensive experience of environmental auditing, compliance reviews and the delivery of evidence based good environmental outcomes. You should also have thorough knowledge of global environmental sustainability practices and applicable laws and regulations; and experience in successfully implementing environmental sustainability initiatives and programmes.
You should be a member of a relevant professional institution and have practical experience of implementing, managing and auditing environmental management systems such as ISO 14001.
The post is full time (35 hours per week), permanent appointment. Starting salary will be in the range of £38,084 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
