Salary: £24,000 per annum (pro rata)
Hours: 18 hours per week over 3 days, some weekend and evenings as required (TOIL)
Contract: 12 months fixed term (possible extension subject to funding)
Probationary period: 3 months
Based: Chiltern Society Offices in Chesham (flexible), regular travel across the wider Chilterns
Reports to: Head of Conservation
Key relationships: Staff, key volunteers, general public, partner organisations

Job purpose:

To support the practical delivery of the Chiltern Society’s aims on its sites and in the wider Chilterns countryside.

What we are looking for:

This is an exciting opportunity to join a small staff team within a growing and ambitious conservation organisation.

You will play an important role in supporting our volunteer groups in delivering practical work across our sites and in the wider Chilterns countryside. This is a varied role requiring flexibility and the ability to work on your own initiative alongside a wide range of people – volunteers, visitors, community groups, stakeholders and partners.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic person with a passion for landscape conservation, including wildlife, access and heritage, and who enjoys working closely with volunteers, has excellent communication skills and has a personable and professional approach.

The post is ideally suited to someone who already has some experience in countryside management and is looking to take the next step in developing their career in this field.
