Want a breath of fresh air? This part-time, permanent post is an opportunity to use your IT skills for the benefit of wildlife and nature conservation. You will also work with experienced IT Officers within Local Environmental Records Centres (LERCs) Wales. You will be based at our Brecon office, within the beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park (BBNP), where you will continue to develop and manage our IT systems to improve and provide efficient access to biodiversity information locally and across Wales.
The Biodiversity Information Service (BIS) is the independent LERC which acts as the focus for the collation, management and use of information on the wildlife of Powys and BBNP.
We are looking for a candidate with the knowledge, skills, experience and personal qualities necessary to maintain and develop the main databases and information systems (including web services) of BIS. The successful candidate will have skills and experience working with similar networks, databases, web applications, and Geographical Information Systems, and will also be able to demonstrate a personal commitment to biodiversity conservation. You will be highly motivated and willing to adapt and learn new skills needed to address the future challenges of environmental data management. There will be an opportunity for consultation and handover from the present IT Officer and LERCs Wales Development Officer.
Closing date is 12 noon on Thursday, 3rd June 2021. Interviews will be held on Monday, 14th June 2021. Please visit the BIS website library for a copy of the job specification and application form. Informal discussions can be arranged by contacting Dr. Bradley Welch ([email protected]).
