The London Borough of Wandsworth has one of the richest varieties of green spaces in central London. Enable Leisure and Culture is the lead contractor employed by Wandsworth Borough Council to manage and improve 8 allotment sites and 32 parks, commons and green spaces as well as deliver leisure services such as outdoor events, filming, sports provision and wellbeing activities throughout the borough.

This is a unique opportunity for an imaginative and collaborative horticulturalists with an eye for detail and a methodical approach to working. We need someone who will bring good administrative skills to the fore alongside their creativity, to ensure that our allotments are well run and that we can demonstrate continuous horticultural improvements across our greenspaces.

You will have a successful experience of delivering lasting improvements and a good landscape management with, and for, communities in accordance with management plans and agreed administrative processes. The role of Horticulture and Allotments Officer is integral to our plans to raise the standards of horticulture and allotment management, as well as allowing us to actively demonstrate our commitments to sustainability in our planted landscapes.

Joining a highly motivated team which specialises in horticulture and allotments, working with communities, achieving successful fundraising and delivering improvements, you will be a team player who has strong self-motivation and the ability to support colleagues as well as work on personal initiative.

The role is for 40 hours a week and is based in the Parks Office within Battersea Park. Alternative measures including some working from home may be required in the short/medium term due to Covid-19. You will be expected to travel to our sites in Wandsworth and Merton, to meet individuals and communities on a regular basis and in all weathers.
