This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in helping in the delivery of the Tamara Landscape Partnership Scheme.
The Tamara Landscape Partnership Scheme is a five-year project primarily funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and hosted by the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and Cornwall Council. This inspirational scheme will offer training and volunteering opportunities, events and support designed to enhance landscape and historical heritage, champion health and wellbeing, and boost the local economy – enriching lives and reviving livelihoods. To engender a step change in the number and nature of people engaged in and caring for this distinctive area, the scheme will reach out to and connect communities, individuals and disadvantaged and hard to reach groups.
The Community & Volunteer Officer will deliver 4 projects within the Scheme:
2B – Come Visit & Stay Awhile
Facilitate the creation of digital destination website called “Visit Tamar Valley” that stimulates an increase in visitor numbers and business opportunities for local business. Recruit and train volunteer community ambassadors to provide tailored advice and information to visitors and tourists.
2C – Celebrating Tamara
This project will create a series of themed events building year on year to connect communities, bring new audiences into the Tamara landscape Partnership and provide fun and informative experiences for people. Events will focus on heritage themes unique to the Tamar Valley including art, produce and watery activities. Large scale events to mark the start and finish of the Scheme will highlight the successes and legacy of the 5 years.
3B – River Explorers
This project will address the disconnection between people and their local waterways by providing a range of hand on activities, which aim to develop the interests of local communities in their river environment. Citizen Scientists monitoring and gathering data and River Explorer workshops with local schools will encourage understanding and knowledge of the river environment in the Scheme Area.
3C – Natural Connections
This project will create opportunities for people to take part in activities and events that will improve their mental and physical health and well-being. The project will partner with link workers, the social prescribing network and specialist organisations such as Battling On, Dementia Adventure and Plymouth Community Homes to work with groups including veterans and those not in education, employment or training. Events will include walk and talk groups, art therapy, bushcraft and life skills.
The Tamara Landscape Partnership team works closely with a wide range of public, private and voluntary organisations and this role requires the people, facilitation and project management skills to bring these diverse groups to work together towards shared goals.
This is a fixed term position, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, to support the Tamara Landscape Partnership. The contract will end on 31.12.25. It is full time and the salary band is Cornwall Council Band H.
